We’re talkin’ all that jazz...The city’s centre will transform into a jazz club as respected jazz musicians come together in Forrest Place to deliver a weekend of smooth tunes. Jazz in the City is a free weekend of jazz, blues and funk celebrating the City of Perth Winter Arts Season.

  STRINGS OF FREMANTLE CHAMBER ORCHESTRA AND PINNACLES QUARTET  
  PERTH TOWN HALL, 18 JULY  
 
  FCO’s exciting performances appeal to lovers of classical music as well as newcomers to this genre. On Sunday 18 July 2010 at 3pm, FCO’s warm strings sound will feature prominently in an intimate winter program at the Perth Town Hall. FCO’s strings and the acclaimed Pinnacle String Quartet (Rebecca White, Cerys Tooby, Rachael Kirk and Sophie Walker) will delight you with jewels of the chamber orchestral and string quartet repertoire including Vivaldi, Bach, Albinoni, Beethoven, Bartok, Corelli and Shostakovich.

  FAURE’S 'REQUIEM' AND RUTTER'S 'GLORIA'

  A concert by candlelight conducted by Joseph Nolan, Fauré's 'Requiem' is a work of sublime beauty, the 'Pie Jesu' for boy solo being a perennial favourite. Rutter’s ‘Gloria’ is the perfect foil to Fauré’s work, with its tremendous energy and verve, the Brass Octet providing a thrilling accompaniment to the Choir. .

  The official opening of NAIDOC Week in Perth is a day of free family entertainment held in Wellington Square.
